Red Red Red

I just finished up with my red assignments, part of our quarter long colors assignment.  For this class we have 5 color schemes and 4 images per color, red, white, black, blue/green, yellow/orange (or other). I have really been meaning to do a recipe for the blog, but I don't think that may actually happen this quarter since we have almost 40 shots that we have to come up with. (maybe, maybe?) I have at least 3 shoots lined up for this coming week for assignments, so I will post those once they are completed.  One of those shoots, for my quarter long non-profit advertising campaign, this Saturday will be a recipe so it's quite possible I can post the squash salad recipe. I actually do miss and enjoy cooking, and the whole process of it.

For the shots below, the first 2 pomegranate shots I used our North Light, a gigantic light, built into a plexi box.  These shots are playing with the idea of pomegranate mulled wine. The next two pie shots, I used natural light, and was my most expensive shoot to date. That is the THIRD cherry pie, that I used. The first one I made, and the crust didn't turn out as expected, the 2nd was from Trader Joe's and just didn't look quite right. The last one is one from High Five Pie, and it looks amazing!   My beet shot I used my qflashes with my softlighter at home, and the 4th and final wine shot, I built a light tent in the studio to surround the wine, and used a lot of plexi. I keep trying to change what lights I am using on every shot, to try to keep pushing myself as much as I can!

Til next time-Amy

Self Portraits

This week for our conceptual photography class, we were to create 3 self portraits that we could use for our "about me" section on our website. This was a bit of a struggle for me, since I really do not like being in front of the camera and find self portraiture sort of strange.  I don't mind being behind the camera, but I just kind of freeze up in front of it. Also, I am so used to shooting food right now, trying to shoot a person (even me) was getting me out of my comfort zone.  I think getting out of your comfort zone is necessary though from time to time and I did get to play with some lens flare.  I have posted below some of my choices for the self portraits.

In other news, I have completed 4 shoots in the last two weeks for red, the first color in our colors assignment which is quarter long.  We will have 4 shots for 5 colors throughout the quarter.  I am trying to keep up with those shots, my editing and (oh my other 4 classes) and also keep blogging but shooting a recipe for the blog hasn't happened yet.  By this upcoming weekend I will be posting my red assignments, which is what I have been working on the last two weeks, so perhaps this weekend I can do a shoot for the blog! Yippee! I can't believe how busy we already are and it's only been a week and a half.

My favorite of course is the last one, iPhone photo, but I don't think I can turn that in. ;)
